Setting My Sights Straight

"For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come." 1 Timothy 4:8

The past couple days I have been unable to run or exercise, and I have felt so miserable. I feel as if I am worthless because I haven't had a heavy lift or a challenging run. This verse reminded me that exercise isn't where I should ultimately place my value. Instead, I need to "fix my eyes not on what is seen, but what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." (2 Corinthians 4:17-18)

Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday and focus on what really matters in life!

  1. This is a great reminder, Lauren! Thanks for sharing! (If you are giggling as you read this note I am not talking about excercising for me, haha - I can fill that slot in with other things that are not truly important that I can end up putting ahead of what really matters.)

  2. Agree. Great reminder. Sometimes it's ok not to exercise (or have a glass of wine which was my case yesterday...)

    1. Of course! or eat almost a whole batch of chocolate peanut butter balls. Man those things are amazing... I just pinned the recipe on Pinterest on my Baking board. It's my cousins recipe and she's gotten me totally addicted!

  3. This something I have struggled with since I "took control" of how I treat the body/gift I have been given. It is all too easy to get caught up in things that distract us from what we should be focusing on instead. Praise God that He reminds us in His Word. Or in illness or injuries= ;}

    1. Yes! My piano teacher told me years ago, "Do not forget in the light what you've learned in the darkness." And it's so true! God tells us that dark times are going to teach us and make us grow, we need to really learn from them.
